Reporting on Biometrics in March 2024, then interview and oath in April 2024
-Easy to find. Paid parking lot a half block away.
-Friendly staff, TSA (airport)-style security check to enter the building.
-Biometrics to the left. Interviews up the stairs on the right, check in upstairs before you sit down.
-Oath is downstairs on the left but first wait in the same room as where you waited for the interview.
-Biometrics lasted under 5 minutes
-Interview lasted 11 minutes (I timed it from the waiting room)
-Oath was 30 minutes of prepping the oath-takers then they bring in the guests and the ceremony itself is another 30 minutes
-After the ceremony there was time to take pictures and there were people there helping all the new citizens sign up to vote (not a function of the USCIS office, they were staff and volunteers who were given a small space to do the registrations)
-The surprise was how techie it was - writing the sentenc... read complete review

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Had our Adjustment of Status Interview today and it was largely a very good experience. When you walk in, you're greeted by security. You have to show that you have your interview notice, and then they put you through the airport-like security screening. You have to take off your shoes and belt, so had we thought about it, we may have chosen different shoes, but nothing too bad.

The only negative experience was that the COVID parameters closed the information desk, so you go straight to the waiting room without checking in. This caused us some confusion because we didn't know if our IO was going to know that we were there, but in the end at our scheduled time, the officer called us by name and there were no problems getting seen. At this time, masks were not required to be worn in the interview.

Our immigration officer was really warm, walked us through what kind of questions were going to be asked. He asked the general inadmissability questions that are... read complete review

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

My husband had his AOS interview today (adjusting from a K1) at Portland. After going through security, interviews are on the second floor. We waited a while to be called, but not too long. (15 minutes?) We were called back together in the officer's office. We had arranged to have an interpreter for French available from upwork.com, but the officer wanted to use the USCIS phone interpretation service. The interpreter turned out to be from my husband's country (Senegal). The officer went through the entire AOS application with my husband, asking about all of the eligibility questions (have you ever committed a crime, etc). We also updated our address, since apparently it hadn't updated in the system when we changed it, despite getting a confirmation email. Then the officer opened it up to both of us to ask about our relationship. He wanted to know a lot of details about when we met and decided to marry, and what the ceremony was like. My husband still hasn't met my family, but it wasn't... read complete review

Parked in one of the metered spots on-street. Waited outside building till 15 mins before appt time, but at security no one asked me what time my appt was so could've gone in anytime. Waiting room was spacious and sparsely occupied for my Friday 10:25am. There was no check-in or anything, and my name was called promptly at the scheduled time. After swearing in, we quickly went through 6 US history questions, then I was asked to read a sentence from the tablet and write another one on it. After that it was just going through the application confirming/updating as needed. Finally the officer printed out a piece of paper with the summary, recommending approval and asking me to wait for notification about the ceremony.
